This excavation involved monitoring of topsoil-stripping at a development site overlooking the River Bann, on the border between counties Derry and Antrim at Moneygran, Kilrea. The development site is located on a gradually sloping north-facing hillside, close to two archaeological sites. LDY027–011 is described in the NISMR as an enclosure, while ANT026–036 is the recorded site of the 1642 Battle of Portnaw. The monitoring was undertaken on 7 and 8 June 2007, when an area of c. 800m2 was excavated down to natural subsoil. A number of drainage features were unearthed during the exercise, but no material or artefacts of archaeological significance were recorded.
