Five test-trenches were excavated at the site of a mixed-use development at Dennehy’s Cross, Cork. The eastern part of the site, adjacent to the Glasheen River, had been quarried in the 18th/19th centuries. The stratigraphy in the west and higher part of the site consists of either topsoil or rubble/made ground over limestone bedrock, while in the eastern, quarried, part of the site made ground is present over stony, gravelly clay. No other finds or features of archaeological interest were noted during testing.
