An assessment was carried out in January 2007 in advance of a proposed housing development at Kilmihil, Co. Clare. The proposed development site is situated in close proximity to St Michael’s Church, CL048–063(01). The twenty proposed dwelling houses are the last phase of an ongoing development in this area. Prior to the assessment being requested, a licence to stockpile soil on the current site was obtained; to facilitate the storing of this soil a number of drainage ditches were excavated across the site. Likewise, the installation of some underground services and an access road along a portion of the site had been undertaken prior to testing.
Testing was carried out in association with this development. No archaeological features or deposits were identified during this testing.
