A burnt spread was discovered on raised ground within a wetland area in Derrygarriff townland in north County Clare. The site consisted of an irregular spread of compact, heat-fractured limestone within a charcoal/peat matrix. It measured 5m north–south by 4m and survived to a depth of 0.14m. Sealed beneath the heat-fractured limestone was a single small pit measuring 0.9m wide by 0.11m deep. The only find was part of a gun cartridge from the burnt spread, which may have been a result of modern disturbance.
