Investigations took place along the route of the proposed N18 Gort to Crusheen road scheme. Site 170, CL026–143, was recorded as a burnt mound but could not be located during the walkover survey carried out as part of the EIS. Nothing of significance was unearthed in the area highlighted by the EIS. However, several sites were identified in the immediate vicinity and initially numbered by townland. Caheraphuca sites 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 (see No. 147, Excavations 2007) were all in close proximity to this area, and it is suggested that either of the more complete burnt mounds (Caheraphuca 4 and 7) may represent the previously recorded RMP site.
