A riverbank survey and underwater archaeological assessment and metal-detector survey on the River Erne at Belturbet, Straheglin townland, Co. Cavan, was conducted in advance of the N3 Butler’s Bridge to Belturbet road improvement scheme crossing. No archaeological remains were identified within the route corridor or within a c. 35m buffer zone to either side of the route corridor. The metal-detector targets encountered were of modern origin, the majority of which were discarded/lost fishing equipment.
