This site was located within the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme along Contract 2, Phase 4B, Knocktopher to Powerstown, and was identified as a burnt mound during testing. An area 13m by 10m (east–west) was stripped of topsoil and one trough measuring 1.5m by 1.2m (east–west) with a depth of 0.28m was recorded under the burnt-mound material (charcoal, burnt clay and heat-shattered sandstone, with a maximum depth of 0.4m). The burnt material from the trough was sampled and the results of the radiocarbon dating and environmental analysis will be submitted with the final archaeological report.
