As part of the redevelopment of a 20th-century dwelling and alterations to Muckamore House, archaeological investigations were undertaken to monitor the construction of new services and access facilities. All groundworks were carried out with a mechanical excavator furnished with a flat toothless bucket. All trenches were taken down to clean subsoil and it was observed that there was a considerable amount of disturbance associated with the current dwelling and services. Some areas in the vicinity of the house show rubble to a depth of c. 1m below ground surface. According to cartographic sources the site has been in use since the early 19th century, coinciding with the construction of the Muckamore Abbey buildings. From this time the area has been disturbed with construction and landscaping and this may account for some degree of the rubble fill. Nothing of archaeological significance was found during the investigations.
