Trial-trenching was undertaken in advance of a proposed extension to Willowfield parish church. Seven trenches were mechanically excavated across the area of the extension in two separate phases. All the trenches were excavated to subsoil, an orange sandy clay. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
