It is proposed to redevelop the site at High Street, Ballymoney, as a residential and retail development. A desktop survey revealed that the site is in an area of archaeological interest. An on-site evaluation of the development area revealed no evidence of archaeological features, but the extent of this evaluation was limited by access within the site. It is therefore possible for previously unknown subsurface archaeological deposits to exist within the remaining area of the development site. Given the extent of the groundworks involved in the proposed scheme, should such deposits exist then they may be negatively impacted upon.
