It is proposed to redevelop part of the existing Castle Centre, Antrim. Prior to construction commencing, monitoring of ground reduction and of the excavation of pile caps was conducted. During the course of monitoring of ground removal five refuse pits, one ditch and five walls were identified. Walls [24], [27] and [28] appear to be the remains of a structure, possibly a basement, which may have been a shop fronting on to Market Square. Wall [32] was possibly a return for this structure.
