2006:2184 - KILCOOLE: Lott Lane, Wicklow

Test-trenching was carried out over a two-day period in advance of the development of a single dwelling unit and associated works. The site of the proposed development is immediately adjacent to a medieval church and graveyard. Three test-trenches were opened. Two of the trenches were negative, but the third partially exposed the articulated skeletal remains of a single adult believed to have been associated with the monument. The remains, which were in a fairly good state of preservation, were recorded and left in situ at the request of the landowner and under guidance from the relevant authorities.
