Monitoring was carried out of components of the Wicklow water supply scheme for Wicklow County Council. The pipeline largely follows the existing roads and passes through or is adjacent to the townlands of Cronroe, Ballinalae, Milltown North, Milltown South, Ballybeg, Ballymerrigan, Merrymeeting and Broomhall. The proposed route of the pipeline is located to the south and east of the N11, south of Ashford and Rathnew.
The contract involved site investigations for 5.3km of pipeline, including 34 slit trenches, four trial holes and nineteen investigative boreholes. The slit trenches were placed at c. 100m intervals. The trenches measured 5m by 1m by 3m deep and the pits measured c. 3m2. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
