This site, in Ballyrogan Lower, c. 8.5km north-east of Arklow town in Co. Wicklow, comprised possible charcoal-preparation pits. The archaeological investigation was undertaken in June and July 2006 on behalf of the National Roads Authority on the route of the N11 Rathnew to Arklow road improvement.
The site is situated in flat land and was contained within 20m by 20m. Three pits were in the centre of the site. All three contained charcoal-rich fills. The pits have been interpreted as charcoal-preparation pits. A north-east/south-west-aligned ditch (or gully) was in the centre of the site. Several chipped flint artefacts and post-medieval pottery were recovered from the site.
