Testing was carried out at this site by Catherine McLoughlin in 2005 (Excavations 2005, No. 1686). Archaeological features and artefacts were uncovered directly beneath the floor level of buildings that previously occupied the site.
Excavation of the archaeological material, which survived only at the street front of the site, was subsequently undertaken. The material uncovered consisted of alternate layers of occupation debris and sand layers. Medieval pottery, whetstones and nails were uncovered associated with these deposits. A number of beaten clay floor levels were excavated, which may be associated with the later Hiberno-Norse use of this part of the town.
