This site was one of twenty excavated in Toar Bog, Co. Westmeath, as part of the 2006 Bord na Móna archaeological mitigation programme. Five sites had previously been excavated by the author in 2005 (see No. 2042 above). This site was identified in 2000 as worked wood in situ composed of a spread of mixed brushwood laid two pieces deep on the field surface (WM-PBY130). A single 3m by 2m cutting was excavated, but the site was very fragmentary and it was not possible to determine a definite form or function from the wood remains present. The nine brushwood elements excavated were all partially exposed on the field surface and were machine damaged. They were mainly oriented north–south and were widely spaced across the cutting. Two elements had chisel point toolmarked-ends which had flat facets and 45° cutting angles.
