This site was one of twenty excavated in Toar Bog, Co. Westmeath, as part of the 2006 Bord na Móna archaeological mitigation programme. Five sites had previously been excavated by the author in 2005 (see No. 2042 above). This site was identified in 2000 as a wide band of brushwood, roundwoods and occasional twigs in opposing drain faces (WM-PBY122). A 2m by 2m cutting was excavated, which revealed predominantly north–south-oriented heavy brushwood lightly covered in places with a significant amount of leaves and twigs. The brushwood was several elements deep and the site, a small platform structure, measured 1.2m by 2m.
