This site was one of twenty excavated in Toar Bog, Co. Westmeath, as part of the 2006 Bord na Móna archaeological mitigation programme. Five sites had previously been excavated by the author in 2005 (see No. 2042 above). This site was identified in 2000 in the drain face as five separate brushwood sites in close proximity (WM-PBY038 and 217–219). These sites were excavated in a single cutting measuring 4m by 5m and were discovered to be a single brushwood site. The site was composed of mainly south-east/north-west-oriented heavy brushwood, 0.01–0.05m in diameter. The elements were not closely spaced and the site measured 2.12m by 4.3m. It appears to have been a platform site that was truncated by the drain cutting.
