This site was one of twenty excavated in Toar Bog, Co. Westmeath, as part of the 2006 Bord na Móna archaeological mitigation programme. Five sites had previously been excavated by the author in 2005 (see No. 2042, Excavations 2006). This site was identified in 2000 as a tertiary togher consisting of a dense mix of brushwood, twigs and a roundwood in the drain face (WM-KVY072). A single cutting measuring 2m by 2m was excavated, revealing a single roundwood remaining in situ. This element measured 0.05m in diameter and 1.8m in length. One end was worked to a chisel point with flat facets that were very well preserved.
