This site was one of twenty excavated in Toar Bog, Co. Westmeath, as part of the 2006 Bord na Móna archaeological mitigation programme. Five sites had previously been excavated by the author in 2005 (see No. 2042 above). This site was identified in 2000 as (WM-PBY105) worked wood in situ. It was recorded as a large deposit of brushwood, one roundwood, one radially split timber, some twigs and four possible pegs in opposing drain faces. Excavation revealed the fragmentary remains of this site as eight pieces of brushwood. The function and exact composition of this site was not determined by excavation as it is possible that the site had been disturbed by machine or sampling activities. The excavated elements were sampled for wood species identification and dating purposes.
