Excavation was conducted in advance of the East Waterford water pipeline construction from Ballyshonock reservoir to the River Mahon. Testing in 2006 under licence 06E0163 (see No. 2002, Excavations 2006) identified a burnt spread. Excavation revealed there were two spreads filling natural depressions; the first was 1.2m by 1m width and 0.14m depth and the second was 1.1m by 0.5m width and 0.15m depth. The nature of these spreads suggests they may have been debris from a larger burnt mound in the vicinity, possibly beyond the limit of excavation.
