Alterations to the interior of a three-storey building in Blackfriars Street, Waterford, were monitored in late August 2006.
Part of an outside wall was removed and the ground floor was replaced. The dismantled wall was post-medieval but incorporated architectural stones from the medieval Dominican church (partly on site). The excavation for a new floor did not penetrate an infill of 19th-century rubble.
The architectural stone has been lodged with the Waterford Treasures Museum.
