Excavation was conducted in advance of the East Waterford water pipeline construction from Ballyshonock reservoir to the River Mahon. Testing in 2006 under licence 06E0163 (see No. 2002, Excavations 2006) identified a burnt spread. Excavation revealed the burnt spread to be 8.5m by 4m in width and 0.17m in depth, although the majority of the spread lay beyond the limit of excavation. The spread was truncated by a field drain and was deposited over a grey clay layer interpreted as the original ground surface, in which a piece of worked timber was found. There was no trough within the area of excavation.
