Excavation was conducted in advance of the East Waterford water pipeline construction from Ballyshonock reservoir to the River Mahon. Testing in 2006 under licence 06E0163 (see No. 2002 below) identified a burnt spread. Excavation revealed the burnt spread to be 7m by 3m in width with a depth of 0.6m. A 0.2m-thick layer of blanket bog was preserved beneath the spread. There was no trough associated with the burnt spread.
