Excavation was conducted in advance of the East Waterford water pipeline construction from Ballyshonock reservoir to the River Mahon. Testing in 2006 under licence 06E0163 (see No. 2002, Excavations 2006) identified a burnt spread. Excavation revealed the burnt spread to be 7m by 3m in width with a depth of 0.6m. A 0.2m-thick layer of blanket bog was preserved beneath the spread. There was no trough associated with the burnt spread.
