The site for a proposed new dwelling and driveway at Rathquage was assessed by trenching in June 2005. Although the house site is more than 100m from a ringfort, the mouth of the driveway is across a laneway from the ringfort bank. No counterscarp bank or second ditch were found at the mouth of the driveway (during testing or subsequent monitoring of topsoil removal), and no settlement remains or early land divisions were found on the rest of the site.
