The site is located adjacent to Cullencastle, Tramore, Co. Waterford. The redevelopment plan proposed to demolish the existing farmhouse and rebuild the family home in the same location. The work was undertaken in July. Phase 1 involved the demolition of the remains of the existing farmhouse and clearance of the ensuing rubble. No archaeological features or stonework from the nearby castle were present at foundation level or from within the wall structure. During Phase 2, test-trenches to assess the presence or absence of archaeological stratigraphy were excavated on the lines of the proposed new foundations and also on the line for the septic tank. No artefacts or features of archaeological interest were exposed.
