Excavation was conducted in advance of the East Waterford water pipeline construction from Ballyshonock reservoir to the River Mahon. Testing in 2006 under licence 06E0163 (see No. 2002, Excavations 2006) identified a burnt spread. Excavation revealed the burnt spread to be mostly outside the pipeline corridor and unaffected by development, although visible as a low mound. The spread remaining within the area of excavation had a maximum length of 8m and depth of 0.4m and had been truncated by a farm track. There was no trough within the area of excavation.
