Excavation was conducted in advance of the East Waterford water pipeline construction from Ballyshonock reservoir to the River Mahon. Testing in 2006 under licence 06E0163 (see No. 2002 below) identified a burnt spread. Excavation revealed a burnt spread of 7m by 7.5m width and 0.06m depth, although some of the spread lay outside the limits of excavation. The spread had been truncated by three field drains and damaged by construction machinery. A grey/yellow clay below the spread probably represented the original ground surface.
