These sites were initially identified during test excavation carried out in August 2005 along the N8 Cashel to Mitchelstown road improvement scheme. The sites were subsequently excavated between 13 and 24 April 2006. Site 92.1 was identified in testing as a possible site, but upon further investigation the features were deemed agricultural in origin. Site 92.2 consisted of a burnt mound, measuring 8m (north–south) by 8.5m, which sealed a trough and a number of pits and post-holes. A narrow recess was evident along the northern edge of the cut along the base, which could indicate that the trough was wood-lined. No artefacts were found during the course of the excavation.
