An excavation took place in October 2006 in advance of the construction of the M8/N8 Cullahill to Cashel road improvement scheme. Prior assessment and centreline test-trenching was carried out in 2006 (see No. 1865 above, E2395). Testing revealed a possible hearth, so an area of c. 100m2 was opened around it. Excavation revealed it to be of no archaeological significance, as there was evidence for frequent animal disturbance and root activity, indicating probable field clearance at some stage in the past. Additional areas of investigation within the test area also produced burnt tree roots.
