An excavation was carried out in June 2006 at a site in Moycarky, near Horse and Jockey, in advance of the proposed M8/N8 Cullahill to Cashel road improvement scheme. Prior assessment and centreline test-trenching was carried out in 2005 (Excavations 2005, No. 1388, A027/009). Excavation revealed a possible palaeochannel that ran in a west–east direction across the excavated area. Two clearly defined features were identified within the site area, the remnants of a burnt pit identified during previous testing and another burnt pit containing burnt soil and charcoal, to the north-west. These two features represent the primary make-up of the site.
