An excavation was carried out in October 2006, in advance of the construction of the M8/N8 Cullahill to Cashel road improvement scheme. Prior assessment and centreline test-trenching was carried out in 2005 (Excavations 2005, No. 1388, A027/012). Geophysics was carried out by Target Archaeological Geophysics in 2005. Assessment revealed features described as ‘possible pit type features, ditch type anomalies, and weaker linear trends’, thought to be associated with modern land reclamation. An area of 400m2 was excavated around the features, but no additional archaeological features were recorded.
