These sites were identified during Phase II test excavation of the N8 Cashel to Mitchelstown road improvement scheme carried out in May 2006. The sites were subsequently excavated between 9 and 16 June 2006. Site 60.1 measured 22m (north-east/south-west) by 30m. A limekiln and two modern ditch features, probably field boundaries, were also recorded. The limekiln was located at the juncture of the two ditches. The cut for the kiln was sub-oval in plan and measured 4.75m (north-east/south-west) in length. The width tapered from 4m at the opening of the kiln to 1.2m at the bowl end. Site 60.2 had been identified during testing as having archaeological potential. The features upon investigation were found to be agricultural in origin. Site 61.1 had been identified during testing as having archaeological potential. During excavation, the site was identified as a field boundary.
