During the course of test-trenching for a development of twenty residential dwellings at Castlefogarty, Ballycahill, five test-trenches were excavated, ranging in length from 50 to 120m. In general the greenfield site falls from a south-eastern summit of 115m OD to the north-west (101m OD). All trenches were mechanically excavated using a flat grading bucket with a width of 1.8m. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified in any of the trenches. The only known listed monument in the vicinity is a settlement and fortified church (TI040–015).
