Two test-trenches were opened on the site of a single-house development in the townland of Lissergool, c. 6km south-east of Ballaghaderreen. Situated immediately to the west of the house site is a poorly preserved ringfort. A second ringfort (RO014–028) is located to the south-east of the house in an adjoining field.
Located almost 7m from the end of one of the trenches and 30m east of the ringfort, a curvilinear feature was exposed commencing from within the upper strata of the subsoil. Measuring 0.6–0.7m wide and extending across the full width of the trench, it contained two fills, one of which included abundant amounts of crushed charcoal. This feature was considered to be of an archaeological provenance and associated with the nearby ringfort.
