Pre-development testing was undertaken in November 2006 on the site of a proposed filling station at Kilcolman on the outskirts of Ballaghadereen, Co. Roscommon. The site is located immediately north of the site of a castle (RO008–020). Three trenches were excavated in the area of the development. All were orientated north–south and measured 30–40m in length and 1.8m in width. Topsoil on the site had previously been removed and a fill of stones, 0.5–1m in depth, deposited across the site. The testing revealed no features of archaeological significance.
