Outline planning permission for a single house at Fuerty included a condition that the site be subjected to an impact assessment including testing. The site is located within a zone of archaeological potential which comprises a circular enclosure site, the collapsed remains of a stone-walled enclosure – defined on the ground by the grass-covered remains of a tumbled stone wall – a possible former trackway and possible house site identified from aerial photographs, and a field system for which most of the original elements have now been cleared. Five trenches were excavated by machine fitted with a toothless ditching/grading bucket. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered.
