Test-trenching was carried out in association with the development of an existing halting site at Gortakeeghan, Monaghan. Eleven trenches were excavated within the accessible areas of the proposed development area. Although the area is located within the wider demesne belonging to Camla House, an assessment of the background of the proposed development site found that no previous archaeological finds had been discovered here. Nothing of archaeological significance was discovered during testing.
