Prior to commencement of a proposed residential development a series of 70 test-trenches were mechanically excavated across the site. Excavation of the trenches was undertaken over the period of one week commencing on 28 June 2006. No evidence of archaeological deposits was identified during the course of the testing. The proposed development site is located primarily on a steep west-facing slope and does not present itself as an ideal location for habitation in antiquity.
