This site was located within Contract 3 (Navan bypass) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by Aidan O’Connell in April 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1346, 04E0583). Full resolution between January and February 2006 revealed a number of linear features, including post-medieval furrows and modern ditches. Modern glass, barbed wire and a Victorian coin were recovered from these. Five isolated pits (up to 1m in diameter) were identified; some contained charcoal and burnt-stone inclusions and may represent the remains of pyrolithic activity.
