Test-trenching was carried out on this site at Riverstown, Kilmessan, following a request for further information. The site lies west of the Hill of Tara, with its associated monuments c. 1 km distant to the east; a ‘possible barrow’ (ME031–037) is located two fields to the east of the development. The proposed development site is located c. 120m east of the linear earthwork (ME031–040). Eight trenches tested the footprint of the proposed bungalow, driveway and percolation area. Nothing of archaeological significance was exposed in the test-trenches.
