This site was located within Contract 3 (Navan bypass) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by Aidan O’Connell in April 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1359, 04E0576). Full resolution between March and May 2006 revealed the remains of a burnt mound and a structure. Two charcoal-rich pits or troughs (2.19m by 0.83m by 0.25m and 1.49m by 1m by 0.28m) and a burnt spread (c. 2m by 4m by 0.5m) were identified, along with a curvilinear feature (10m by 1m by 0.31m) possibly representing a boundary. A rectangular structure was also identified, formed by a slot-trench (5m by 3.5m by 0.05–0.2m). No internal features were found inside the structure. There appears to be an entrance in the north-east corner and all four corners are rounded.
