Testing was undertaken on a site proposed for a single dwelling at Newgrange as part of an assessment to be submitted with a planning application. The site lies within the core area of Brúgh na Bóinne World Heritage Site. Three test-trenches were excavated on the site. The soil profile was generally 0.4m of sod and red/brown silty clay topsoil and yellow/brown silt natural subsoil. No material of an archaeological nature was disclosed by the testing.
