This site was located within Contract 1 (Dunboyne to Dunshaughlin) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and tested in advance of full excavation in March 2004 by Tara O’Neill (Excavations 2004, No. 1282, 04E0480). Full resolution of the site took place in January 2006. Leshemstown 1 consisted of the remains of a shallow crescent-shaped mound of burnt stone and charcoal. A deep sub-oval trough and a series of shallow pits were excavated, along with a large subcircular pit that appears to pre-date the burnt mound.
