An archaeological assessment was undertaken of the pilot sewerage scheme and site investigation works at Kiltale, Co. Meath. This is part of the six villages pilot sewerage scheme comprising the provision of sewerage treatment facilities in six villages in counties Meath, Cavan, Galway, Westmeath and Roscommon. The proposed site lies immediately to the west of the modern church in Kiltale and consists of two fields.

Monitoring of soil-stripping associated with the pilot sewerage scheme works at Kiltale was undertaken on 13–15 September 2006. With the assistance of a tracked mechanical excavator, c. 0.3–0.5m of topsoil was removed from the site, exposing the subsoil. Trench 1, extending the length of the stripped area, was excavated in Field 1 and Trenches 2 and 3, extending the length of the stripped area, were excavated in Field 2. All trenches were orientated north-west/south-east in direction. Nothing of archaeological significance was exposed during the soil-stripping or trenching.
