An archaeological assessment was undertaken of the pilot sewerage scheme and site investigation works at Kilclone, Co. Meath. This is part of the six villages pilot sewerage scheme, comprising the provision of sewerage treatment facilities in six villages in counties Meath, Cavan, Galway, Westmeath and Roscommon. Monitoring of soil-stripping associated with the pilot sewerage scheme works at Kilclone was undertaken on 8–12 September 2006. Approximately 0.3–0.5m of topsoil was removed from the site with the assistance of a tracked mechanical excavator. Modern agricultural furrows and three field drains were uncovered, but nothing of any archaeological significance was exposed during the soil-stripping.
