This site was located within Contract 3 (Navan bypass) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by Aidan O’Connell in April 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1266, 04E0574). Full resolution in February 2006 revealed a series of north–south and east–west ditches that are consistent with old field boundaries identified on the 1836 OS map. The fills of these linear features consist of brown, loose clay containing occasional bone and charcoal flecks. A single pit containing burnt bone and charcoal flecks was also discovered. A well-cut pit in the south-east corner of the site contained a significant amount of partially burnt animal bones and may represent the fragmentary skeleton of a sheep (probably modern).
