This site was located within Contract 2 (Dunshaughlin to Navan) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by Jonathan Dempsey between April and May 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1336, 04E0415). Full resolution in July 2006 revealed the remains of a burnt mound, as observed through spreads of characteristic burnt-mound material and a wood-lined trough (2.05m by 1.5m by 0.45m) filled with burnt stone and associated with four stake-holes. A number of modern linear features, such as field drains and ditches, were also noted.
