This site was located within Contract 2 (Dunshaughlin to Navan) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by Jonathan Dempsey between April and May 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1336, 04E0415). Full resolution of the site took place between June and July 2006 and relocated the single pit revealed during testing, although in a much reduced condition. It survived only as an area of red oxidised clay, 1m in diameter. It may represent the remains of a charcoal-producing pit/kiln.
